It’s Harvest Festival time at Dollywood again! And if you’re like me, you know it’s one of the most exciting events at Dollywood. From hand-crafted artisans and lighted pumpkins to great music, Harvest Festival has something to offer everyone. This year, Dollywood has added even more fun and amazing entertainment for all of us to enjoy! I’m so excited to share with you the new things I spotted on my recent trip. And I know you will love them! Here are the new highlights and attractions you’ll see at the Harvest Festival this year.
One thing you definitely notice is the Colossal Pumpkins! These over-achievers are nestled in Market Square and they are massive! What’s really cool about their display is that each one has its own informational marker. Each marker tells the city and state where the pumpkin was grown, the name of the farmer who grew it and its total weight. All of these hefty pumpkins weigh from 300 to more than 1500 pounds each! But these aren’t the only pumpkins you’ll see. There are nearly 15,000 pumpkins throughout the park. From the colossal pumpkins in Market Square to The Village and Wildwood Grove, you will see numerous pumpkin displays and exhibits with various types and sizes of all kinds. It’s a pumpkin lover’s dream!
Bluegrass Artists AND Southern Gospel
With the current COVID-19 pandemic, indoor concerts are a challenge. But Dollywood found the perfect solution for allowing all of the great performances to proceed. How? By having all them outdoors! More than 800 concerts are on the performance schedule throughout the park! There are even a few gospel music shows scheduled on the steps of the Robert F. Thomas Chapel. Plus, various roaming park performers have been added as a bonus, too! I don’t know about you, but this is my favorite change due to the pandemic. Having the performances outside just gives the festival an old time feel which is perfect for the time of year.
Great Pumpkin LumiNights is Back! Jack o’lanterns of every shape and size light up the night skies again at Dollywood! Literally thousands of lighted pumpkins greet you as you enter the entrance portal at the top of Craftsman’s Valley and will continue all the way through Wilderness Pass, Wildwood Grove and Timber Canyon. A new pumpkin display you definitely want to see is the new sunflower field in Wildwood Grove. These tall pumpkin towers are intricately carved and lit to create a “sunflower field” like no other. This pumpkin display is an Instagram must!
Let’s just say that I stayed a little longer than I needed in the Spotlight Bakery. There are so many yummy treats and delicious food offered during Dollywood’s Harvest Festival. You will definitely want to try it all! If you want to read a preview of all of the great food that’s new this season, be sure and read fellow Insider Josh’s recent blog post! You can find that here.
The Harvest Festival is one of my all-time favorite reasons to visit Dollywood, and this year is no exception. Start planning your visit and remember that all safety measures, temperature checks, masks and social distancing requirements are still in place. This year’s Harvest Festival will look a little different but with all of the newly added entertainment and features, it will be the best one yet!
