What is Sandcasting at Dollywood?

Have you ever walked by Valley Forge Blacksmith in Craftsman’s Valley and wondered what “sandcasting” is? It’s one of the services Dollywood craftsmen offer. Well, if you haven’t seen it in action, you’ll want to the next time you visit the park.

There’s no mass-production operation here. It’s all hand-crafted art. Check out this video on how sandcasting works, and you’ll see that the process is part of the charm of visiting Dollywood. The best part is you can take a craftsman’s handiwork home, too!

Insider Tip

If you place an order while you’re at the park, they won’t be able to finish it before you leave. (Remember, there’s a lot of people putting in orders, plus they hand-paint it after they make it.) But, don’t worry! Your personalized sign can be shipped anywhere in the U.S. That’s what I call a fun mail day!
