One of my favorite places to stop while visiting Dollywood is the caricature stand to watch the Kaman’s Art Shoppes’ artists at work. During our recent visit, we met Eric, an artist, who is in his ninth year at Dollywood. Eric is a screen designer and puts his skills to work capturing personalized drawings of guests who visit the park. “I love interacting with customers and hearing their stories,” Eric shared.
Insider Tip
My kids are always on the go—racing from one attraction to the next. The idea of sitting for a long time is not something appealing to them. Don’t worry! It only takes five to eight minutes to capture each person. Eric explained that most drawings are completed within 15 minutes. That’s long enough for mom to stop at the nearby Spotlight Bakery and grab a sweet treat to enjoy after your session is complete. (We visited the artists on Showstreet.)
Insider Tip
Don’t stress over carrying around your customized piece of art. You may leave it at the stand to pick up at the end of the day or have delivered straight to the resort if are a Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa guest.

Whether you’re considering a caricature or more realistic pastel portrait, you can find both at Dollywood! Caricatures are drawn with traditionally vibrant colored crayons, while portraits are made with pastels. You’ll find portraits and caricatures in Craftsman’s Valley as well as caricatures near the front entrance. Both are open daily at noon baring inclement weather.
When planning your next visit to Dollywood, add a personalized caricature or portrait drawing to your list. You’ll leave with the perfect gift in hand!
