Have you ever been enjoying a big bowl of ham ‘n’ beans at Dollywood and wondered “Who is Granny Ogle?” The last time we visited, my husband asked me this question and it got me thinking about the stories behind these amazing park restaurants.
One thing I really enjoy about Dollywood is how they have paid tribute to the way Dolly grew up and how they incorporate the people and memories from her past. You can see it in every aspect of the park, including some of the restaurants.
Granny Ogle’s Ham ‘n’ Beans Presented by BUSH’S®
So who is Granny Ogle? This restaurant was named after the grandmother of Dolly’s childhood BFF, Judy Ogle. This full service restaurant is a wonderful place to take a break and enjoy the out of this world ham ‘n’ beans. The cast iron skillet cornbread is also a must try!
Aunt Granny’s Restaurant Presented by Lodge®
Aunt Granny’s is one of Dollywood’s best known restaurants and one of my personal favorites. The name comes from what Dolly’s nieces and nephews have called her for years. Aunt Granny is such a sweet term of endearment, and I love that this southern-style buffet brings families together to enjoy classic southern food like fried chicken, biscuits and gravy.
Miss Lillan’s BBQ Corner
If you are lucky, you might just get a visit from Miss Lillian herself on your next visit to Dollywood. Miss Lillian is affectionately known as “The Chicken Lady” and has been a Dollywood staple for 15 years. Be sure to check out this great VIDEO all about Miss Lillian. Along with dishing out fun, family entertainment, the Smoke House offers some seriously tasty food like smoked turkey legs, corn and pulled pork.
Red’s Drive-In is one of my kids’ favorite spots to grab lunch. The name comes from the place Dolly enjoyed her first hamburger. It has a fun 50s/60s atmosphere and serves thick and creamy milkshakes and of course hamburgers.
