The Best Treats from the Sweet Shoppe

Nestled in the heart of Showstreet is one of Dollywood’s hidden gems: The Sweet Shoppe. This darling little store is packed with candies, chocolates, sweet treats and tons of nostalgia. Whether you are looking for fuel to get you through a fun day at the park or on the hunt for a little something to take home to family and friends, there truly is something from everyone here!

Insider Tip

The store is conveniently located near the turnstiles, so be sure to stop by on your way out of the park. It’s the perfect spot for picking up a batch of delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries!

As with so many of the retailers at Dollywood, there is an element of theater on display thanks to the talented hosts overseeing the production of the best-tasting (and looking) caramel apples this side of the Mississippi. The intricately-adorned apples are hand-dipped and decorated every day by a dedicated team of candy workers and artists. From classic caramel to the vibrant and fun sprinkle-dipped, hundreds of candy apples are produced on site every week. Stop by early to see the artists in action and be hypnotized by the ease at which the swirls and decorations all come together. If you miss the chance to see some of the many apples prepped for display and sale, don’t worry, there is still plenty more to explore.

To the far right of the main entrance sits a display wall positively bursting with flavor – it is the Dollywood licorice display. Here you will find a fantastic array of licorice twists. There are the classics such as black licorice and berry, to more wild flavors such as grape, blue raspberry or watermelon. Why not pick up a pack or two for your journey home? These delicious candies are created for and only sold at Dollywood, meaning you will not find anything like this anywhere else in the world. Personal favorite? The pina colada of course! No matter the time of year, it will always feel like summer with a pack of these in your bag.

For those looking for a splash of nostalgia, there are plenty of old-school candies available to purchase. Be sure to head to the many saltwater taffy displays throughout the store. Here, you will find a huge selection of flavors. Just like the licorice, there are classics such as peppermint and cinnamon, but be on the lookout for some of the wildcard flavors such a Key Lime. The pay-by-weight option gives you free reign to create the candy bag of your choice and take home a sweet treat that is utterly unique. Other vintage finds include Lil’ Goos and GooGoo Clusters, Pez, Airheads, and Poppin’ Candy.

At the heart of The Sweet Shoppe is talent and love, and there is no greater display of this than at the large truffle and chocolate counters. Available are some of the most rich and exquisite truffles you can find, each hand-made with care and chocolate craftsmanship. Stand out items from the display cases include the Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties, the Birthday Cake Truffle (look for the red jellybeans) and the White Chocolate Tiramisu Truffle. Also on display are nut clusters, chocolate slabs, pralines, to name but a few. And with several drink fridges available in store, this is the perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up out on the porch, as well as a quiet place to see firsthand some master chocolatiers at work.
