As you take your first steps into Dollywood, hang a right and follow the smell of candy and sugar until you see the Sweet Shoppe Candy Kitchen on your left. You won’t regret popping in to take a peek around at all of the goodies, and maybe pick up a few to take with you! There are so many options for special treats throughout Dollywood, but this shop is at the top of our list every time!
This fun location has just about every candy and sugary treat imaginable, and it’s so fun to watch kids (of all ages!) come in wide-eyed and bustling about looking for their favorite treat.
Not only can you find candy along the walls, (just about every kind I can think of was available here! Even things I thought they stopped making!) but you can purchase bulk candy by scooping it into bags yourself, a favorite pastime of my daughter’s for sure! I think she enjoys looking at and picking out her candy more than eating it! It’s always a nostalgic look back in time as I walk by the shelves showing her my favorites now and from when I was a kid.
You also will find cases and cases of special-baked sugary confections in the middle of the store—things like fudge and caramel apples or pretzel rods covered in icing and sprinkles. There were also marshmallows on a stick, peppermint bark pieces and Oreos covered in white chocolate and a dash of icing and sprinkles. We were lucky enough to go during the holidays where we found many homemade Christmas items in the cases. I will take one of everything, please!
However, my absolute favorite part of Dollywood’s Sweet Shoppe Candy Kitchen is actually getting to watch the candy makers at work. Dollywood calls these particular hosts craftsmen and craft team members because park leaders believe making candy is an art. It’s so fun to see the creations come to life before they go into the shop to be sold to lucky guests. You can even ask questions about how things are done or made, it’s a really fun learning experience!
Whether you are coming to Dollywood to ride every ride, see every show or take in some Appalachian culture, make sure you schedule a little bit of time in your day to check out Dollywood’s Sweet Shoppe Candy Kitchen. It’s a trip down memory lane for you, and your kids will create new memories, too!
