Meal Time: Stretching Your Dollars at Dollywood

If you are anything like me, you are always looking for ways to save money. I get excited when I find ways to stretch my dollar and get the most bang for my buck. Dollywood is a great investment in family fun. To make the most of my experience at Dollywood, I want to maximize value by finding ways to be frugal. I have found meal time is a great time to save.

Here are my three go-to tips to aid me in stretching my dollar:

1. Water is your friend.

All around the park you can find refillable water stations. I suggest bringing in a water bottle that keeps your drinks cold all day and using the refill stations to stay hydrated. (And, it’s free!)

Insider Tip

Every location that has a soda fountain offers a complimentary cup of water. All you have to do is ask. If you forgot your water bottle at home, take advantage of the free water cups!

2. Share a meal.

I’m not a mom, but I do regularly bring kids to Dollywood with me. It can be frustrating to spend money on a meal for a child only to have them take a few bites. I suggest buying a meal that is easily split among multiple people. Last week, I brought a six-year-old to the park and we split an order from Dogs n Taters. With my Gold Pass, the meal was $8, making it just $4 per person. That is a steal of a deal, and we both felt full after our meal. A flatbread pizza from Iron Horse Pizza also splits really well among both kids and adults. Sharing is caring, and sharing will help you save some money.

3. Snacks, snacks, snacks.

When wanting to stretch your dollars at Dollywood, snacks can go a long way. In my case, I can use my Gold Pass and spend less than $5 on a snack, and that treat lasts me most of the day. If the kids get hungry, you already have something on-hand to give them. I suggest the grab-and-go fruit cups found in the kiosks at Wilderness Pass for healthy snacks that last all day. Snacks are perfect for a quick bite when needed.

Don’t be overwhelmed by feeding yourself or your family in the park and staying on budget. Be willing to drink water, share a meal and munch on snacks in order to maximize your savings.
