How to Decide: Resort or Cabin?

Who else is ready to plan a spring break getaway? Dollywood is a great option for entertainment and a home-away-from-home base. You probably already know about the theme park and water park, but how much do you know about Dollywood’s lodging? Dollywood offers two lodging choices, and though they are both magnificent choices, they are very different in terms of experience. Ask yourself some important questions before you begin the booking process.

What is the vision for your getaway?

When deciding on lodging, think about what you need. What’s more important to you: a quiet view of the sunrise overlooking the mountains or a private patio hotel room with a pool view and a spa? If you’re planning a get-together with several people, or you have a large family, a cabin is an excellent choice. On the other hand, when my family of four goes for a quick family trip, the resort is a perfect fit. We’re hoping to plan a much larger trip with extended family members later this year, in which case a cabin will definitely better suit our needs.

What amenities are the most important to you?

When it’s Dollywood, you really can’t go wrong. If you choose Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa, you’re going to get the convenience of on-site fast or full-service dining. If you choose one of Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins, you will have your own kitchen to whip up exactly what you want. Go with the resort and you may have a room that overlooks the pool, whereas if you book a cabin you’ll get that mountain getaway feeling.

How are you getting to Dollywood?

Now that you’re making a priority list as you think about lodging, it’s time to consider transportation. This, in my opinion, is one of the most important parts of your park visit. If you’d rather be shuttled to Dollywood, the resort offers complimentary door-to-door transportation. If you’d rather take your own transportation, staying at a Dollywood cabin will secure you FREE Preferred Parking at Dollywood.

Here’s a visual I made to help you figure out what works best for you:
