Getting to Dollywood- Traffic Tips

Getting to Dollywood should not be stressful. While Pigeon Forge has become a popular destination, that doesn’t mean you will have to sit in traffic.

There are several routes you can take—I’m going to try to make it easy for you and list what I believe are the best options and tips!

Here’s the address to plug into your GPS:

2700 Dollywood Parks Blvd.
Pigeon Forge, TN 37863

Fastest Route

If you travel I-40 and want the quickest way to get to Dollywood, I highly recommend getting off at exit 407, take Winfield Dunn Parkway until you get to Sevierville.

Insider Tip

Stop to visit Dolly’s statue and the historic downtown if you have a few minutes to spare (125 Court Ave, Sevierville, TN).

From there, you’ll drive east on Dolly Parton Parkway and look for Veterans Blvd. on the right. Veterans is a six-lane highway with minimal traffic lights, and it will lead you straight to Dollywood. Traffic usually flows quickly.

Tourist Route

For those who are not in a hurry, take the Parkway straight through Pigeon Forge and experience all the bright lights, shops, and restaurants! One of our favorite traditions is to travel back home this way after visiting Dollywood during the Christmas season to see all of Pigeon Forge’s Christmas lights and decor.

Scenic Routes

My favorite scenic route is to travel through Townsend and across Wears Valley. We love to take this route during the fall to see the beautiful trees, visit the Apple Valley Mountain Village and Cafe for a delicious apple pie, buy candy from the General Store in Wears Valley, and before you realize it, you will land right in the middle of Pigeon Forge on the Parkway.

1. When planning your visit, always check this page to see what events and festivals are happening on that day/weekend! This will help determine which roads to avoid. For example, if you are traveling to Dollywood during peak season or a weekend when the city is hosting a large event like a car show, I highly recommend not traveling the Parkway, as the traffic is super heavy and very slow moving!

2. When traveling to Sevierville/Pigeon Forge, try to get to town before 3 p.m. This will help eliminate the chances of getting stuck in the late-afternoon rush.

3. Download the TDOT Smartway app. This app shows live traffic updates. It will let you know when areas are congested due to construction, wrecks, heavy traffic and alternate routes to take. You can even click and view live TDOT cameras on the interstate.
This is very helpful for my family. We use it often!

I hope you find this information helpful, and it allows you to make the most of your time while at Dollywood with your family, making memories that are worth repeating over and over again!
