Dollywood is a Hidden Gem

Have you been wanting to plan a unique getaway?

Let me tell you about a world-class theme park with more than 40 rides and attractions, award-winning food and entertainment. Plus, it’s nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains amid an amazing number of other museums, shopping, dinner shows, and attractions for all ages and interests!

In my opinion, Dollywood is one of the best theme parks in the world. I’ve visited parks all over the country and Dollywood is one of my favorites. The Great Smoky Mountains offers wonderful weather most of the year, and the natural terrain of the area makes Dollywood a beautiful park to visit.

As I mentioned, Dollywood has eight roller coasters, with a coaster for everyone in the family! The historic Blazing Fury and the FireChaser Express are family coasters that thrill and entertain. Wild Eagle (the first winged coaster) and Lightning Rod (the world’s fastest and first wooden launched coaster) attract coaster fans from all over the world.

If you’re not into coasters, there are plenty of attractions, like bumper cars, a scrambler, river rapids, a coal-fired locomotive, and more. There really is something for everyone in the family.

Food is an attraction in itself at Dollywood. The park consistently wins praises and awards from the theme park industry. You can sample a down home meal at Granny Ogle’s Ham ‘n’ Beans or get the farm-to-table experience at Front Porch Cafe.

And have you heard about their Cinnamon Bread from the Grist Mill? Guests will wait in line for more than an hour to enjoy this warm, homemade cinnamon treat. The bread pulls apart, softly, and it makes the perfect treat to share during your visit. Seriously, it’s that good.

You would assume that the shows at Dolly Parton’s theme park would be top notch, and you would be correct. There are musical productions and live music throughout the day at different locations all over the park—more shows at this theme park than any other in the world! Dollywood attracts some of the best talent in the nation to their stages, and it really shows. In 2018, Dollywood is spending more money on entertainment than they ever have before! That’s saying a lot. There are seven theaters, plus roving entertainment that captivate guests. And, enjoying an indoor show with air conditioning during the hottest part of the day is always a good suggestion.

You don’t have to be a Dolly Parton fan to fall in love with Dollywood, but if you are, you can learn more about the legend’s life and accomplishments at her Chasing Rainbows Museum.

What started as a small, regional theme park has grown into the economic engine of the area. Dollywood is the largest employer in the county and now boasts a theme park, water park, resort and cabins. It truly is a family vacation destination. The rides, food, shows, and the friendliest staff in the business make Dollywood a theme park experience that is different from everyone else (I’m looking at you, Orlando).

So, take a look at Dollywood and the Great Smoky Mountains for your next getaway—whether it’s a weekend or week-long experience!
