Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas is here again! Holiday shows, Christmasy treats, more than four million lights, and the Parade of Many Colors have returned to the park, making it 100 percent merry. With all these beautiful holiday decorations, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to get some great photos with your family and friends in the park, so here’s the inside track on the best places for great Dollywood holiday shots!
Dollywood is great about creating lots of special photo backdrops prime for great pics. Here are some that are easy to find.
The Dollywood entrance marquee is all decked out and ready to go with Dollywood photographers ready to help you get a great commemorative snap.
Jukebox Junction has tons of great decorations that make for really fun group shots, especially.
Craftsman’s Valley has more than a few Rudolph-themed opportunities you won’t want to miss. You can even get your family IN the snow globe with Frosty!
The Insider Spots
Even with all those ready-made backdrops for great holiday photos, sometimes you just want to find a unique spot. My picks? Right here.
The Coffee Shop is tucked into the side of the Pines Theater, just down from Dolly’s Tour Bus. It’s not a real shop, but it’s a really great photo op. I love the lights!
The train trestle bridge between the Village and Craftsman’s Valley has some perfect little Christmas trees and the lighting on the bridge makes a nifty point of interest.
The water in front of the Grist Mill catches the thousands of lights and makes for a beautiful family backdrop, and there’s usually someone standing nearby who’s willing to help with a nice photo or two.
The Chapel’s gorgeous stained glass and beautiful lights are wonderful for nighttime portraits.
And don’t forget, as you wind your way down from Timber Canyon, that even the benches along the way can provide the perfect spot for that great photo you’ll cherish.
