After Your Dollywood Visit, Do This

Our very first year as a married couple living in Tennessee, my husband and I got to see the Christmas show at the Smoky Mountain Opry—an incredible show down the road from Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. We were absolutely blown away by the talent! Almost every year since we have been able to ring in the Christmas season with this show! This year we got to take our daughters with us. It’s really the perfect way to get into the Christmas mood. Even my husband, who is a no-tree-before-Thanksgiving-kind-of-guy, has an amazing time at the show. So whenever you are ready to start your Christmas season, the Smoky Mountain Opry show is the place to be! In 2019, the holiday show at the Opry runs from Nov. 1 – Jan. 4. For more information about show times and dates, visit their website. Here is a video summary of our family holiday night at the Smoky Mountain Opry!

About the Author:

Megan Doran (Dollywood Insider 2019-Now) grew up in Ohio and attended college in Illinois where she met her husband Seth and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. In 2011, she and her husband moved to East Tennessee to work as houseparents at Wears Valley Ranch, a children’s home at the base of the Smoky Mountains. Megan now stays home with her two young daughters and enjoys recording their Smoky Mountain experiences on her instagram @mountainmamamegan. Her love for Dollywood and Dolly Parton’s Stampede started young as her family made frequent visits to Pigeon Forge growing up. When she’s at the park, if she isn’t feasting on some cinnamon bread, you can probably find her singing along to some live music or chasing her kids around trying to get them to smile for a picture. She is really excited for this new opportunity and looking forward to sharing all of her Dollywood experiences with you!
